A word from the Principal: 31 Oct

I would like to thank the 45 families who responded to the school survey. The majority of families felt that the teachers work hard to provide a positive learning environment and that they work together with students to ensure they know what is expected of them.   A hundred percent of families agreed or highly agreed that their child’s teacher was a good teacher. This year the survey also asked the question “how could the school better respond to the opinions of others?” The responses to this request varied with almost half of them being positive comments such as “the school is doing very well so far, I don’t think it needs to change”. The suggestions made will be under discussion by the board at the next meeting  and the staff on the PD day. If you haven’t had a look at our website recently I encourage you to do so. Mrs Feist, our School Officer, has been working hard to improve it. On the front page there are now links to the latest news and events happening in the school.  The link for the website is :http://easthamersleyps.wa.edu.au

You may have noticed that we have been trying to decrease the amount of paper we use. All notes and newsletters are now emailed to parents and sent out on the Skoolbag App so if you haven’t already got the App please download it onto your phone as all notifications are sent out via the App. Mrs Riches has also advised parents and carers of the QKR App you can use to  make any payment to the school. There is also the ability to give parent permission for excursions on the Qkr App. These can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

At the last P&C meeting the committee decided to run a Cadbury chocolate fundraiser. The money raised from this will go towards purchasing resources for the school such as the wonderful painted games outside the classrooms and interactive whiteboards. Thank you for your contributions!

Earlier in the year the school participated in the Coles Sport for Schools program. Our School Captains and Councillors had a first hand look at the new equipment that Mr Moser chose from the program and that will be going into the classrooms. Thank you so much to the school community for your continued support in all that we do at East Hamersley!

The following two pages of the newsletter highlights two excursions that our students have been on recently. The excursions were a wonderful supplement to the learning that goes on in our classrooms.

I would like to acknowledge Jeannie, the wonderful grandmother of one of our students and her friend Pam,  for organising a clay project to make poppies for our ANZAC memorial. These will be on display next week leading up to Remembrance Day. Thank you Jeannie and Pam! Thank you also to all the community members who have knitted poppies which will be attached to a net to drape over the memorial on special occasions. What a wonderful school community we have here at East Hamersley!
