In the early years of our students’ learning journey, we have a strong focus on a blended approach between instruction and play.
Following Department of Education guidelines, we believe in students learning through play. Dress Ups, Constructing, Singing, Telling Stories and Being Outside all help and encourage students to think, talk, read and write, and play based activities are promoted as part of their everyday experience at EHPS. However, we also firmly believe in the importance of key literacy skills that will ensure your child is on a pathway to a successful future, so we place significant importance on phonics instruction to help your child meet reading milestones. In the early years, we utilise the evidence-based programs Let’s Decode and InitiaLit to assist Teachers to deliver comprehensive reading programs. We also offer reading intervention in Pre Primary to Year 2 for those students who require a little bit extra to support their learning journey.
